Milani Rose Blushers Review & Swatches

Hi again loves!

Living in the UK has its advantages and disadvantages. Brands such as Sleek, MUA and Bourjois are available here in drugstores but many American drugstore brands are not available. One of the brands which I have been hearing amazing things about from various YouTube gurus but is not available in UK drugstores is Milani.

I’m sure many of you have seen many Milani products on Instagram, twitter and Facebook; everyone seems to be using them! So I thought id give it a try.

How to find Milani products online which deliver in the UK?
Looking online I found various sites which had Milani products AND delivered to the UK (for a price of course). Two of the websites which I found are cherry culture and Milani cosmetics eu; although I am sure there are a variety of websites which sell Milani cosmetics.

I decided to order from Milani cosmetics eu, Primarily because this website sells only Milani cosmetics whereas Cherry culture sell many other brands which would tempt me in purchasing more (Have to have some sort of self control right?). To my surprise I had found that the Milani’s limited edition Rose blushers were still in stock on this site… they caught my eye directly and I just had to have them, I mean have you seen how beautiful they look?! As this is a European company this also meant that postage and packaging costs was less than an American company for example (every penny counts!)

I think that these blushers look so BEAUTIFUL. Like honestly, they are at the front of my vanity, I think that the bright colours would be perfect for the summer and I cant wait to try the Milani baked blushers.

These blushers come in a round transparent and gold packaging and the product is formed as a rose. On the website these blushers are described as

“A luxurious matte powder blush that features rose petals micro-milled into the powder to bring out the natural rosy tones. It is easy to use and streak-free. Suitable for all skin types and tones.”

I would not say that these blushers are as they are described on the website. These blushers are a matte colour and are super pigmented. Although, I do not agree that it is ‘easy to use and streak free’ I would advise to always wear foundation when wearing these blushers as the texture of the blushers are rather powdery. This makes it harder to apply a strong consistent colour on the cheek as the blush does not blend as much and looks patchy on bare skin. There are eight colours but I have chosen the six colours which I’m more likely to use.

First row (left to right)

02- Flora Passion- This is a dusky pink with a coral undertone; I found this blush to be less powdery than the other blushes.
04- Bella Rose- This is light pink colour, I found this blush to be not as powdery than the other blushes.
05- Coral cove- A lovely bright coral colour, this will be one of my summer blushes as it is a beautiful colour, although this blush is powdery I found that when I wore foundation and used a dual fibre blush brush it was easier to apply this blush.

Second row (left to right)

06- Lady Rouge- This is a red blush colour, although I love the colour of the blush I have to say that this was the blush that I was least impressed with. It was extremely powdery and when applied seemed to be very blotchy.
07- Love Potion- This is a Fuchsia pink colour, this is my favourite colour of the whole collection and is a perfect summer colour.
08- Tea Rose- This is a dark dusky pink colour, I found this easiest to apply with a dual fibre brush.

I would say that these are not the best drugstore blushers but are well pigmented, I would not wear these without a primer and a foundation underneath.

I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on the Milani rose blushes which I have…until next time!

Alluring aquatic Bronzer & Blush Review

My favourite part of doing my makeup is the cheeks you can probably tell from my name!

From the alluring aquatic collection I got the Refined Golden bronzing powder and the Seduced at sea extra dimension blush.

The Bronzing powder is in a beautiful compact which was sea blue and had the 3D water droplets on the packaging, unlike the blush it does not have a window where we can see the product, instead the compact has a mirror inside.

I found this bronzing powder extremely pigmented which gave a long wear. The bronzer is a beautiful as it has a slight shimmer to the powder. Now that summer has started I find myself using this more and more to give me a fresh summer bronzed look. I found this colour a suitable colour for me, I find it quite hard to find a bronzer which matches my complexion. This bronzing powder retailed for £22.00 (GBP) each, I am not sure if there is a similar bronzing powder in the mac range.

I was extremely happy with the seduced at sea blush and wish that I had got a back up! The Blush is in the a sea blue packaging with the 3D water droplets with a window where the blush can be seen. I found this blush extremely pigmented which gave a long wear.

This blusher has become one of my favourite blushers because it gives such a natural blush looks on the cheek. I think that this will be a summer essential!

This blush retailed for £20.00 (GBP). I am not sure if there is a similar blush in the mac range or in any of the various brands, if anyone knows a similar one please do let me know!

I hope you enjoyed reading my review on the Alluring aquatic collection!

Alluring Aquatic eye shadows and lipsticks review

So continuing from the posts before lets talk eye shadows, I can honestly say that I was super super superr impressed by these eye shadows and rather upset that I didn’t get all six of them. Similar to the other items in the collection the packaging was sea blue and had the 3D water droplets.

These eye shadows are extra dimension eye shadows, and are CRAZY pigmented with a long wear. Lorelei is a gold metallic coloured eye shadow and Soul serenade is a dark grey metallic eye shadow. Both eye shadows can be applied lightly for a less intense colour or can be layered to give a strong opaque metallic colour.

I use Lorelei lightly as a base colour during the day, or I spray my brush with studio fix and use the eye shadow all over the eye lid; spraying my brush with studio fix intensifies the colour of eye shadow and deepens the metallic colour. Soul Serenade is the eye shadow I always turn to when I choose to do a dark eye look, I might even say it’s my new favourite! These eye shadows retailed for £16.50 (GBP) each, I have not found any eye shadows similar to this in the mac range although I do think that there are similar eye shadows in the urban decay range.

The two lipsticks in the collection are the usual bullet shaped lipstick in the sea blue with the 3D water droplets.

Goddess of the sea is a dark violet colour with a cremesheen finish and has an opaque colour on the lips.

I use this lipstick with a soft purple or silver eye makeup. I usually find cremesheens quite hydrating for my lips although this seemed to dry after a while. This lipstick was a long lasting lipstick for me lasting from the beginning of a day until lunch time. This lipstick retailed for £16.50 (GBP), I have not found a similar lipstick colour in the mac collection.

I use this lipstick with a soft eye makeup. I found that this lipstick was very hydrating and was long lasting throughout the day. This lipstick retailed for £16.50 (GBP), I have not found a similar lipstick colour in the mac collection.

Alluring Aquatic 127 brush & Eyeliner review

Hi my lovelies!

I thought that splitting the review would be a better idea than having one longggg review… (I don’t want you to fall asleep!)

I’ll start by talking about the 127 split fibre face brush. This is a lovely shaped brush, on first feeling the brush I thought.. ahh … soft! Which is exactly what we need with brushes.

image

image

When first looking at the brush, the ferrule is a sea blue colour which matches the other products in the aquatic collection and to my surprise this brush has two different sides where the fibres are different colours; one side the fibres are white and the other side the fibres are black. If any of you were wondering … why two colours? So was I, so don’t worry your not alone! A lovely lady at my local mac counter explained to me that this brush was made from a combination of synthetic fibres and natural fibres (that’s why its two colours…) and that because of the two types of fibres, a more blended look can be achieved with less work. I mean… a brush which speeds up blending? Yes please! I’ve used this brush many times since purchasing and I do have to say that it helps me to blend products easily, especially early mornings when I am in a rush and I’ve just applied wayyy to much blush (I’m sure I’m not the only one who does this!)

I now use this brush when using a bronzer or a blush. I find that it is really amazing when trying to contour as the brush is quite flat and gives the right amount of precision needed. This brush retailed for £27.00 (GBP). It is a limited edition brush, meaning that there is no exact brush in their normal range, but fear not for those who did not get a chance to grab this brush there is a 128 Split fibre blush brush; this is similar to the 127 brush as it has the two types of fibres but the brush is smaller in size .

Next, onto the eyeliner, when I first looked at this collection online I had decided that I wanted to purchase the black line eyeliner as I did not have an olive colour in my collection whereas I have many blacks. To my surprise when I went to my local counter the eyeliner which I wanted (Black line) was already out of stock so I took the other eyeliner available called Black swan.

image

Packaging wise, this eyeliner looks like any other eyeliner in the mac range but is a sea blue colour instead of the black like the rest of the aquatic collection.I love that the packaging is a different colour as when I am in a rush it is easily Identifiable!
image
At first I was upset as I had really set out on purchasing Black line after seeing online. Believe me when I say that I am glad that I personally got to swatch the both eyeliners, as my opinion changed. I think the colour which is shown online does not do the product justice… why you ask? Simple… It isn’t just an ordinary black eyeliner which I have many of; it is a black eyeliner with silver sparkles and specks. When applied it has a creamy texture, I loved this almost straight away as I found it blended effortlessly under the water line.

I use this eye liner both on the top of the eye and on the water line smudged. As this eyeliner lasts for soo long I always use it on nights out. I also find this eyeliner amazing as it brings the Smokey eye loo to a whole new lever. This eyeliner retailed for £16.50 (GBP) and I do not think that mac has any similar coloured eyeliner.

Mac’s Alluring aquatic collection

Hi my lovelies,

It took me quite some time to choose what I wanted to write about as my first post…it had to be something limited edition (of course) and something I loved! So here are my picks can from mac’s alluring aquatic collection! (I wrote this post at first and it was extremelyyyy long… so I have helped you all by cutting the article into the various different products with this blog post being about the collection itself)

My picks from the collection

This is truly one of my favourite collections. From this collection I bought a 127 brush, an eyeliner  (black swan), two eyeshadows  (Lorelei & Soul Serenade,) two lipsticks (Goddess of the sea & Mystical), a bronzer (refined golden) and a blush (seduced at sea).

Firstly, let’s take a second to admire the packaging… It can be seen that mac has really worked hard on the packaging. The items are all a sea blue colour with water droplets on the packaging…yes…water droplets! What’s amazing about the packaging is that the droplets are not embossed, they are 3D…meaning that you can actually feel the drops!

Water drops

This collection was released on April the 22nd, although we did not expect this collection to be out at this date, it sure did sell out fast online! Similarly when this collection launched in stores it was sold out rather fast! I went to Selfridges London not after launch date and found that many of the products were out sold out. I’m sure I don’t have to also explain how many people were grabbing the items of the collection and swatching them! I could not deal with this after a long day of university! So the following day that I did not have university I went to my local mac counter which is within House of Fraser. I was so happy to see that many items were in store and that there was not many people, meaning that I could leisurely swatch items and ask for help! This made me a very happy Henna!
